Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, for those outside the united states, have been staples of television since the 1950s. In almost every market they're syndicated together, airing before the must-see TV. In my local area they aired on an ABC station, at 7 and 7:30, Jeopardy first. I'm gonna assume you know what the rules to Jeopardy and Wheel are, so I won't be explaining them. Without further ado...
This, issss Jeopardy! Wait, jeopardy? Jeopardy is not a puzzle game! I don't care what MobyGames says, Jeopardy is not a puzzle game. Marble madness was one thing but this is a bridge too far. Oh well, since it shows up four individual times in my list (original, teen, sports, platinum) we might as well play a round of the platinum edition.
We boot up the game and get to enter our name and pick an avatar. The game has two-player, but not three player pass and play funny enough. I pick state capitals for three hundred, with the clue being 'the gateway to glacier bay national park. I guess Alaska's capital, Juno. I'm wrong. James, represented by a sprite with the widest smile I've ever seen, guesses... worse than I did, and also gets it wrong. The answer, Juneau.
Oh suck me from the back, I said that! I just spelled it wrong!
...ok that's all the jeopardy I'm required to play, and I was intending to play a full round but the animations of the sprites make this incredibly slow. Also, for some reason there's only two players when Jeopardy is famously a three-player game. I guess that explains the lack of a three-player mode. Play this if you like 90's trivia, or just play trivial pursuit. Like with cards.
Ah well, lets go on to... Wheel, Of, Fortuneeee!!!! Unbeknownst to me when I started my first go at this game I selected one player, no computer opponent. I was very confused why the game just kept letting me spin. I also didn't realize the category was people, not person. What do you mean it's not Cerrrnos Ulidars?
...Iroquois Indians.
With another player the game went smoother, but I still felt like an idiot. Granted I didn't realize person meant a descriptor for a person, not a persons name, or I would've guessed physics teacher way earlier, probably.
If you're bored on a car trip either of these games will do you just fine, but their slow pace makes them slogs to play on your own. Get another player, or play a board game adaptation.
